Samsara's ELD is the logging piece of a full trucking platform: registered HOS, GPS, DVIR, IFTA, and optional AI dashcam. Hardware is reliable and inspection mode is clean. You are paying fleet-software money, usually on a multi-year contract. If the ELD mandate is the only problem you are solving, this is overkill — Motive or Garmin will satisfy 49 CFR 395 for less. Buy Samsara's ELD when you already want Samsara the fleet platform. Do not buy it as a fancy way to obey the ELD mandate. Registered, polished, expensive, long paper.
