Our Trust Score is a 0-100 rating we calculate based on publicly available FMCSA data. It factors in authority age (how long the carrier has been operating), safety rating, operating status, insurance status, and fleet size. Higher scores indicate carriers with longer track records, better safety records, and proper insurance coverage.

You can search by DOT number, MC number, or company name using this tool. DOT numbers are assigned by the US Department of Transportation and are required for all commercial vehicles in interstate commerce. You can find a carrier's DOT number on their truck door, BOL, or rate confirmation.

An 'Authorized' operating status means the carrier has active authority to operate as a motor carrier. Other statuses include 'Not Authorized' (authority revoked or never granted), 'Out of Service' (ordered to cease operations), and 'Inactive' (voluntarily ceased operations).

Verify their operating authority is active, check their safety rating (Satisfactory is best), confirm insurance is current and meets minimum requirements, review their authority age (newer carriers carry more risk), and check for any recent safety violations or out-of-service orders.

This tool queries the FMCSA SAFER database in real time via the official SODA API. The data is maintained by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and is updated regularly. However, there may be a delay between when a carrier's status changes and when it is reflected in the database.
