ELD Mandate Device is a budget hardware/app combo that exists to check the FMCSA ELD box at a low monthly. It is not the ELD mandate (the federal rule). ELD Mandate exists for one reason: to get you FMCSA-compliant at the lowest possible cost. It accomplishes this goal adequately. Everything beyond basic compliance — GPS, fleet management, IFTA, dashcams — is absent. If you view your ELD as purely a regulatory requirement and want to spend as little as possible, ELD Mandate works. If you want your ELD to actually improve your operations, invest in a better solution.
